(Our Base Metal)
316L Marine Grade Steel forms the base of all our pieces because we like to start strong. Marine Grade Steel is a physically strong metal (used to build skyscrapers) and has a 95% strength retention rate, so it stays strong even when it is melted down and reused over and over again. It’s also one of the strongest contenders out there for those with sensitive skin: Marine Grade Steel is biocompatible (won’t harm living tissue) and hypoallergenic, making it one of the most commonly used materials in medical tools.
Our coating are super strong ceramics (stronger than steel, actually), and one we used most often is called Titanium Nitride. We work with it at the molecular level by vaporizing Titanium (an elemental metal) and adding in Nitrogen (an elemental gas). This ceramic is used as a heat shield in aerospace manufacturing, and is often found as a coating for surgical implants. In line with the Ready-Made Standard, it’s biocompatible and hypoallergenic, too.
